A Guided Tour of TaoPractice.org
Welcome
...to TaoPractice.org. Here you will find a wide variety of information
regarding the Tao Practice.
What is The Tao Practice?
The Tao Practice is a holistic philosophy and practice based on the culture
and tradition of Tao, incorporating elements from Buddhism and other spiritual
traditions from the East as well as the West. The Tao Practice offers
a fresh perspective on these ancient teachings and provides practical
methods and ideas to help us achieve more clarity and well-being.
Who Are We?
This site has been compiled by practitioners of The Tao Practice
in the DC Metro area, with assistance from practitioners in Los Angeles
and New York City.
The Tour
Our site is divided into the following sections: Vegetarian Information, Resources,
Articles, and our Forum.
Vegetarian Information
The Tao Practice embraces a vegetarian diet as a healthy practice that
is in harmony with nature and promotes spiritual vitality. This section
includes recipes, restaurant
directories, recommended books,
and links. We will soon have nutritional
information and the philosophy
of vegetarianism for your perusal.
Resources
General Resources - The Heart
Sutra is considered to be one of the most essential Buddhist sutras (teachings),
and its influence can be seen in our Tao practice. We have a Mandarin/Pinyin
version of the Heart Sutra for viewing, with a brief Guide
to reading and pronouncing Pinyin. A Glossary
explains terms used in the Heart Sutra. An English
version of the Heart Sutra is available for viewing. We have also
recorded the Heart Sutra as spoken in
Mandarin. Links to sites containing more information about The Tao
Practice are listed in our General Resources section.
Recommended Books - These books are recommended because we feel they have important lessons to share. Both Taoist and non-Taoist texts are highlighted.
Recommended Movies - Tao lessons can be found everywhere, including modern-day movies.
